"Conurbation" - a fancy name for urban sprawl. A megacity - the "Manhattanisation" of Brisbane. (Bernard Salt)

Thanks to Tim Teh at Cathay Community Association to test and give feedback to the committee on what I think of the efficacy of a Driving Simulator. On this setup, drivers can learn the sequence of safely starting and rolling a car. Particular attention was paid to the relationship between speed and wet surface driving. Overall I can see efficacy however I advised the committee that pilot trial with adequate size together with relevant data collection should be implemented to show cause for sponsorship from either private or public sectors.
Aside from the serious implication, this device was actually quite entertaining!
Queensland Multicultural Week 2015- receiving Local Multicultural Champion Award on behalf of Australian Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce Queensland Inc for outstanding contribution to our local multicultural community
It's an honour to receive the Local Multicultural Champion Award on behalf of Australian Taiwnaese Chamber of Commerce Queensland for outstanding contribution to our local multicultural community presented by Mr Duncan Pegg, Member for Stretton. This morning I spruiked about the way in which the Taiwanese community is behind the local community in particular the Sunnybank Hills State School in raising funds for the P&C to help with better traffic management. I told the other community leaders that on top of our charitable efforts in fund raising, we are also proudly showcasing our Taiwanese folk culture to the local residents. It was great to connect with all of these local leaders and looking forward to collaborate with all of them in my other capacities soon!
Glad to be part of this All-Star team with Rod Harding. Ready to campaign and deliver for Runcorn electorate (Sunnybank, Sunnybank Hills, Runcorn & Kuraby)
Spent the whole afternoon with this bunch of enthusiastic councillors and candidates for the next Brisbane City Council election. I updated the team about Runcorn with it's challenges and opportunities. I have learnt a few helpful tips to assist the residents with and will make a report on it soon.
It's a great feeling to be part of this energetic team to plan for our city's future.
Great day out talking to a lot of residents at lunchtime here at Sunnybank Plaza! Introducing myself as the candidate for Runcorn and listening to issues which are important to us! Come and have a yarn!
This is a very useful website which contains up to date contacts for all the residential action groups around Brisbane. There's information about the Brisbane City Plan and also numerous forums on issues which are currently ongoing in the suburbs. You can also find upcoming events and the latest relevant press releases.
Enjoy and get active for your neighbourhood!
Traffic around the Southside on Calamvale/Pineland/Mains Road is getting worse by the day. Took me 20 minutes to drive from Symons road to Sunnybank Plaza at 8.30am this morning. It used to take me 30 mins to walk the same distance a few years back when I still work at Sunnybank Private Hospital as a physiotherapist. As I see it and what I have been hearing from residents is that there are two issues: (1) Poor development plan neglecting traffic impact to the streets while increasing density too rapidly; (2) ineffective public transport plan.
Over the coming weeks and months, I'll be looking into both issues and learn about what has been happening and propose a way forward for this part of Brisbane.
At the Calamvale development forum organised by Member for Stretton Duncan Pegg with guest speaker Councillor Helen Abraham on 2222 Beaudesert Road. 5 Storeys, commercial used building is NOT consistent with low density residential zone code. Submission closes 21st August, please make your voices heard!
